Learn more about our current campaigns and join us in demanding a fair deal for farmers and workers.
Fairtrade New Zealand works hard to spread the word that trade often isn’t fair. We campaign to raise awareness of the needs of producers in developing countries, share the good reasons to buy Fairtrade products and to persuade policymakers to change the fundamentally unfair trade system.
Here you can find out about some of the big issues we are campaigning on and how you can get involved.
With thousands of Fairtrade products now available, it's never been easier to make a differnce to the lives of farmers and workers in developing countries.
Every bite of Fairtrade chocolate stands to end child labour, every banana supports farmers to protect the environment and every time you take a stand at the coffee stand, you are ensuring the farmers are paid fairly.
So go on, march down your supermarket aisles, occupy your trolley with Fairtrade and protest with your purchase today!
World Fairtrade Challenge: 13th May 2017
The World Fairtrade Challenge will offer individuals and their communities the chance to become part of the biggest coffee break on earth, while joining forces with other coffee lovers to discuss the impacts of climate change on coffee farmers and workers.
With every cup of Fairtrade coffee drunk, we are helping to make a difference to farmers and workers, their families and communities. With your involvement that number can grow.
Fairtrade Fortnight: 4th - 17th August 2017
In 2017, Fairtrade Fortnight will be back and better than ever! Celebrating all things fair trade, this campaign will kick off on the 4th of August and will run through until the 17th August. Why have we moved the dates? A move to August will assist Fairtrade Fortnight activities to come into sharper focus and receive greater coverage and engagement with local communities. It also gives activity organisers and volunteers more time for planning and implementation, which is a bonus!
Information on how you can get involved in Fairtrade Fortnight as well as exciting campaign details are not far away so stay tuned!
Other ways to get involved
Whether you are new to Fairtrade or are looking to get more involved, there are exciting and creative ways to inform your friends, family and community about Fairtrade and trade justice
Here are some ideas to get you started:
- organise a Fairtrade morning tea,
- host a coffee cupping course (contact a local Fairtrade coffee roaster to find out more), or
- host a documentary screening some of Fairtrade's videos.
